LinkedIn export guide

How to Download Your LinkedIn Data

Request your archive on LinkedIn's desktop website, then open the downloaded ZIP in InstaScope. For connections, use the larger data archive option. You can also select extracted CSV files together without resaving them in a spreadsheet.

About these guides and corrections · Updated

Request the archive from LinkedIn

  1. On a personal computer, open LinkedIn, select Me, then Settings & Privacy and Data privacy.
  2. Find Get a copy of your data or Download your data. Select the larger archive for connections, or the specific available categories you need, then request the archive.
  3. Use the download link LinkedIn emails you. Keep the original ZIP and request a fresh link if the download has expired.

LinkedIn's download feature is currently offered on desktop. The categories supplied depend on your account and activity; requesting an archive does not guarantee that every possible CSV will be included.

Open the original ZIP or CSV files

  1. Open the LinkedIn Connections Analyzer and choose the downloaded ZIP. No LinkedIn login is requested by InstaScope.
  2. If you already extracted the archive, select the supported CSV files in one selection. Files inside the Jobs folder can be selected alongside Connections.csv and messages.csv.
  3. Open Export coverage & diagnostics. Check which files are available before moving to Messages, Career & Learning, Activity history or Wrapped.

The reader accepts the leading Notes section found in Connections.csv. Keep quoted cells and multiline messages intact. Opening and saving the files in a spreadsheet can change dates, separators or encoding.

Choose the archive for your question

Your questionWhat to include
When did I connect with someone?Connections and their recorded dates
Where is an old conversation?Messages and exported conversation IDs
Which applications or Learning records are included?Job Applications, Saved Jobs and Learning
What did I search for or post?Complete-export search and activity categories, when supplied

Keep contact data separate

LinkedIn says a connection's email address is supplied only when that member permits it. InstaScope does not import connection emails or use them for identity matching. A missing email does not mean the connection is absent.

Keep the downloaded archive private. Choosing a ZIP reads supported fields locally; it does not publish the export or save a connection snapshot automatically.

Sources and responsibility

LinkedIn's documentation describes the export request and the records it can supply. The worked examples use independent fictional inputs and InstaScope's current reader. Account coverage and upstream file formats can vary.
