How to Search Your Exported LinkedIn Messages
Open messages.csv in the LinkedIn Messages Analyzer. Search the conversation library by title, sender or message text, then open a thread and use its transcript filters. The tool reads the chosen export rather than connecting to your live inbox.
Find the conversation first
- Choose your archive or messages.csv, then open Messages. Check the message category in Export coverage & diagnostics.
- Use Find a conversation to search a title, sender label or part of the message you remember. Sort by recent activity or message count.
- Open the matching conversation. Two conversations with the same title remain separate when their exported conversation IDs differ.
These results are calculated from our own fictional CSV records with the working parser and analysis functions. They are separate from your active export.

Narrow the transcript
Use the conversation's text search, Sender label and Recorded year filters. These controls narrow the opened conversation; they do not search other threads or fetch later messages. Clear a filter when a known line is missing from the current view.
Sender labels describe the names exported with messages. Shared names do not prove that all those rows belong to one person. Recorded activity and word counts summarize the available text rather than read receipts, response intent or sentiment.
Download only what you intend to keep
Download filtered conversation CSV contains the transcript rows matching the current conversation filters, including sender, recipient, source date, date basis, subject and message text. Review those fields before forwarding the file.
Attachments and message links are not fetched. Exported markup stays inert text, so an image tag inside a message cannot load its remote image. An exported thread may still omit content that LinkedIn did not supply.
If messages are unavailable
Not included means the chosen files did not supply a supported messages category. Request the appropriate category or choose the original messages.csv. Unsupported structure calls for the original headers; changing a filename alone cannot repair a different format.
