Chat Replay
Pick a conversation and revisit the messages Snapchat kept in your export.
Open your Snapchat export
Choose your My Data ZIP with JSON files. The working export stays in this tab.
What to include for this task
- Friends and retained chats
Friends and Chat History
My Data JSON ZIP - Memories album
Memories metadata and optional physically included Memories media
Supported local JPEG, PNG, WebP, MP4 or WebM; metadata alone is not a media file
Wait for the platform to finish preparing the download. Keep the original folder structure and choose the supported files together. A category that was not exported is unavailable, not empty.
Your export, your choice
Choose your own export or try the fictional demo.
Read your exported Snapchat chat history
Chat Replay turns retained Snapchat chat entries into readable conversations. Choose a thread and search its text, with the sender, UTC time and saved marker shown when those fields are available.
How to use this tool
- Choose a My Data ZIP with chat_history.json, or select that original JSON file. No Snapchat login or archive upload is needed.
- Pick a conversation, then search the text within it. Conversations with the same display title remain separate, and your imported text stays literal when you change the interface language.
- Read missing photos, videos or audio as unavailable media markers. The chat viewer does not fetch attachments or follow links from the export.
Before you start
Can I recover deleted Snapchat messages?
Chat Replay can display only the entries in chat_history.json. Disappeared or omitted messages cannot be restored, and a saved marker does not prove that the export contains the full conversation.
Why are some chat dates or sender markers missing?
Some records lack a usable clock or direction flag. These details stay unknown; the viewer does not guess them. Supplied UTC clocks are shown as UTC so their meaning stays clear.
