WhatsApp Chat Analyzer
A clear view of the messages, dates and patterns recorded in your local export.
Open your WhatsApp export
Open one WhatsApp chat export as a .txt file, or a ZIP containing one chat text file. The reading and analysis happen in your browser.
How to prepare your chat export
- Use WhatsApp's Export chat option for the conversation you want to explore.
- Choose Without media and save the .txt file or ZIP to your device.
- Open the file here. Review its locally detected format, choose the date order if needed, and confirm before analysis.
Supported formats use numeric dates, dash or bracket timestamp wrappers, and 24-hour clocks or English AM/PM. Slash dates may use two- or four-digit years; two-digit years mean 2000–2099. Named months and translated AM/PM are not supported.
No login. No cloud upload. No saved copy.
What to include for this task
- Conversation and Wrapped
One selected direct or group chat
TXT or ZIP; confirm ambiguous date order - Private chat album
Selected messages; attachments only with exact source references
Supported local images in the selected archive
Wait for the platform to finish preparing the download. Keep the original folder structure and choose the supported files together. A category that was not exported is unavailable, not empty.
How WhatsApp Chat Analyzer reads your export
Choose a TXT or a supported ZIP containing one conversation, review its detected date format and confirm before analysis. The Chat Export Doctor explains the source's format and coverage. Date and participant filters recompute the selected subset locally; the Doctor continues to describe the original file.
Explore the activity calendar, year/month charts, recorded weekday/hour heatmap, participant counts, supported media and emoji, and local word frequencies. A participant label is not a verified identity. System events are not attributed to a person without source evidence. Recorded gaps and adjacent messages do not establish reply times, read receipts or relationship meaning.
Fictional example
In a fictional selection with two messages on Monday at 09 and one on Tuesday at 18, those two heatmap cells contain 2 and 1. All other cells are zero. No timezone or online-presence history is inferred.
