Your Facebook posts and comments archive

Time Capsule searches supported posts and comments from your Facebook download. Explore recorded years, compare your vocabulary and keep your own reactions separate from written activity.

Your ZIP stays on this device. No uploads, login or automatic saving.

Wait for the platform to finish preparing the download. Keep the original folder structure and choose the supported files together. A category that was not exported is unavailable, not empty.

Memory only. Clear the export, reload or close this tab to forget it. No ZIP is uploaded or saved.

Pick an export. Choose a year. Meet a few familiar words.

How to search your Facebook posts and comments archive

  1. In Facebook Accounts Center, download your information with Posts and Comments and reactions. Choose JSON and the All time range for the broadest supported activity coverage.
  2. Open one original, unencrypted ZIP in the tool above. Keep its folders and filenames; combining JSON and HTML versions of the same export is not supported.
  3. Choose a year, search your own written text, or filter by activity type. Compare vocabulary between two recorded years; undated entries remain available in the unknown-date selection.

Which Facebook activity files are supported?

The JSON reader recognizes these files in the original activity folders. Numbered post parts are read together. Written posts, posts with mixed activity and other check-in or media records remain separate types; a media record is not automatically a written post.

  • your_facebook_activity/posts/your_posts__check_ins__photos_and_videos_1.json
  • your_facebook_activity/comments_and_reactions/comments.json
  • your_facebook_activity/comments_and_reactions/likes_and_reactions_1.json

Only explicit supported JSON reaction types count as your own reactions. NONE and unknown values are excluded. A localized reaction source can overlap those records and is never added to them. HTML support is limited to verified own-comment body slots with partial coverage; mixed posts and reactions in HTML are unsupported.

Recorded activity is not a complete Facebook history

A restricted date range, omitted category or unsupported structure can leave gaps. The tool searches your own supported text; it does not recover deleted posts, identify profile visitors or count reactions other people gave you. Missing dates are never assigned to an invented year.

The ZIP is read locally without a Facebook login or archive upload. Media and attachment bytes are left untouched. Clearing the export or closing the tab removes the active session; opening this page does not automatically save your posts or comments.

Fictional worked example · calculated by InstaScope

Five activity records are not five written posts

The actual JSON parser and history analysis read three invented post records, one undated comment and one supported LOVE reaction. A NONE reaction is excluded; an overlapping localized reaction source remains unsupported.

The year chart contains three dated records in 2020 and one in 2021. The undated comment still counts as a supported record, with its date unavailable. The mixed post and media record are not relabelled as written posts.
