How to get your export
Export help and limits

Include optional connection categories in the same ZIP or selection to explore requests, privacy lists and your unfollow history.

ZIP up to 2 GB · JSON / HTML up to 20 MB per file · All time export
What to include for this task
  • Connections and Wrapped

    Followers and Following; All time

JSON or supported HTML in the original ZIP
  • Instagram conversations

Messages, including the conversation JSON parts

JSON ZIP; media only when physically included

Wait for the platform to finish preparing the download. Keep the original folder structure and choose the supported files together. A category that was not exported is unavailable, not empty.

Fictional worked example · calculated by InstaScope

Three followers, two different relationships

Two independently invented exports, analyzed with the same calculations as the working tools. No real accounts or usage figures.

Followers: incoming
3
Mutuals: in both lists
2
Fans: you do not follow back
1

Fans means Followers minus Following. It says nothing about profile views or interest. Missing recorded dates do not remove accounts from the count.

Five views of the same social circle

Followers are accounts that follow you. Following are accounts you follow. Mutuals appear in both lists. Not following back means you follow them but they are absent from your followers list; Fans describes the opposite direction.

The follower-to-following ratio divides the first count by the second. When following is zero, there is no meaningful ratio, so InstaScope shows it as unavailable. Counts always describe the uploaded lists, not a live Instagram lookup.

From export files to useful results

You can upload the complete ZIP, including a media-rich archive, without manually removing photos. The browser worker reads the recognized relationship files and leaves unrelated media alone. JSON and HTML lists can also be selected together; split follower files are combined.

Both Followers and Following are required. If a required list is absent or malformed, the analyzer explains what to fix instead of producing misleading empty results. Use an All time export to avoid deliberately excluding older relationships.

Explore the people behind the counts

Choose a category, search by username and browse the results in pages of 50. Usable JSON timestamps and supported HTML recorded dates enable oldest/newest sorting; records without usable dates remain explicitly undated. The relationship timeline groups only the dates that actually exist in the export.

Move into Cleaner for a manual review list, compare two exports to inspect changes, or make an aggregate Wrapped card. Your dataset stays available while you navigate between tools in the same tab.

Local analysis, clear limits

InstaScope requires neither your Instagram password nor a connection to your Instagram account. Parsing and relationship calculations run in your browser; the archive is not sent to a server. Clear data removes the active workspace.

A snapshot cannot tell you who viewed your profile, why a relationship changed or whether an account is inactive. The analyzer only presents information supported by the supplied files.

Does this show live follower counts?

These results describe your uploaded export. Upload a fresh All time export when you want an updated picture.

What happens to my data?

Your archive stays in this browser’s memory. Clear it or close the tab to remove it. If you choose to save a local snapshot, follower and following usernames remain in this browser until you delete them or clear site data. Public-photo searches, when enabled, send the entered username to our separate lookup service.

How do I get the right export?

Choose Followers and Following with the All time date range in Instagram’s Accounts Center. JSON is recommended. Include the relevant optional connection categories for requests, privacy lists and your own unfollow history. Read the export guide
